Advanced Beginners classes (6 ~ 10 year olds)
The path to becoming a leader with an “I Can” attitude
Children at this age become more self-conscious as they start to compare themselves with others, which at times could lead to the loss of confidence. Our class is designed so that children are disciplined, learn at their own pace, and become supportive of other students. Instructors regularly plant the seed of confidence as they work with each child’s mind-set while focusing on improving their physical strength and agility. Students are geared to take on new challenges, becoming masters in applying the “I CAN” attitude in their daily lives leading them to future successes.
Class Structure: Students participate in class at least once every week. The class number is a maximum of 45 students (ISSH/Hiroo and NIS/Moto Azabu) and is taught by three to five instructors. At BST (Shibuya) a maximum of 14 students and at TAC (Azabudai) a maximum of 10 students are taught by one to two instructors. Skills are taught based on each student’s ability and therefore the class is made up of beginner to advanced level children. Instruction is given on tumbling, trampoline, bars, balance beam, vault, and mini-trampoline (equipment may vary depending on the location). Every student is taught how to do a back handspring with support. At the end of a school term (December and June), students show their skills to parents (Watching Days for parents).
Goal: The goal of this class is to introduce gymnastics in a safe and enjoyable manner. Gymnastics skills are used to build confidence and to improve motor skills. With the help of our “I Can” spirit and teaching approach, children learn to discover their capabilities.
